Hello, friends and followers! Another attempt at a travel lanscape today, from a trip to Niagara Falls a few years back. I don’t seem to have a reference photograph, but I know that I know that I was drawing from fairly close to the falls, looking up towards the Niagara Fallsview Casino and the Skylon tower.
As usual, I felt overwhelmed with details attempting a landscape, but I do like a lot about this picture; how I framed off most of the casino and the top of the tower to focus on parts of them, the negative space effect around the letters in the casino sign, the window patterns in the other buildings, the vague sense of the forest and trees further down, and the little gaps of blue sky on a very cloudy day–another negative space technique, I guess!
It was interesting sitting so close to the falls and drawing facing away from them. Have you ever felt like you’re facing in the opposite direction from the crowd?
